Think Out Loud With Me

E35: TOLWM + Sosamma Samuel-Burnett x Responding to Fear With Courage, Compassion + Voice

Sosamma Samuel-Burnett, J.D. Season 3 Episode 15

To React or Respond is today's question. At first blush, React and Respond feel similar in meaning, right? Your thesaurus will tell you they are synonyms for each other, and I’m sure we've all used the words interchangeably at some point. But if you’re a communications nut like I am, semantics matter, and a lot is going on between these two words that has me curious.

My guest is a woman I have come to know and respect for her deep commitment to responding to the world around her with love, compassion, and pursuit of justice. Deciphering her role in seeking justice in the face of fear at an early age, Sosamma Samuel-Burnett is the founder of G.L.O.B.A.L. Justice, a nonprofit in Loveland, Colorado, that works to inform, impact, inspire, and provide education and advocacy on local, national, and international justice issues.

⚖️ Justice: loving when it's hard
🚦 Human trafficking: in everyone's backyard
🪨 Hard stuff: talking about difficult topics
📖 Sosamma's story: on the shoulders of beautiful humans
👩🏽‍🏫 Being a teacher: incubating a future of intention
🏠 Micah Place: connecting for community, culture, and  justice
🤝🏻 Of course, you should: experiencing Sosamma and G.L.O.B.A.L. Justice

We are hummingbirds doing our part. If just one person hears and takes action, and moves in their own life with a sense of compassion and justice because of what Sosamma and I share together, we will have succeeded.
